OK this is not much of an announcement for you regular players, but just in case someone out there has me saved in their RSS feeds... TaDa! Big news! What has this meant for Weewar? Not a ton so far, Alex and Bert now are EA employees and are working on bigger things. For a while things languished with no one working on the site after the conversion to flash and the game was unstable and buggy. ... Read More

In an astounding move the developers have announced that they will be rolling back the flash version of the site and returning the HTML version of the site. Also, announced was the start of a regular monthly blog post and corrections to the problems of slowdowns and disappearing units that previously plagued the site before Flash was implemented. Darkbee has renounced his previous statements and rededicated himself to making it into the top 15 ... Read More

We had a lot of great entries to the map contest and a lot of fun testing them. It was very hard to narrow things down to three finalists. We eliminated a lot of great and fun maps because they didn't quite meet our criteria, but you may enjoy playing them more than some of the finalists so be sure to go have a look, play around, and add the ones you like to your favorites!
These three maps are our ... Read More

FORWARD
The originally scheduled piece "Bluffer's Guide to WeeWar - Part 3" has been laid aside on the grounds that it was simply "too rubbish for words" (thanks ed). Instead, the release the of new Flash version of the game has provided WeeWarTimes with the opportunity to commission some reasoned and incisive analysis amid disturbing scenes of disgruntlement, anger, and shock at the changes. Hoards of rabid protesters stand outside WeeWar Towers, and the sounds of pitchforks being sharpened, knees jerking, credit card ... Read More

WeeWar has always had a strong social component for an online war strategy game, and to further that aspect of the game WeeWar has been integrated to Facebook's Facebook Connect technology.
You can now link your WeeWar account to your Facebook account for login and information sharing. The only thing that I've seen so far is the ability to publish open games to your Facebook feed, that looks like this:
might want to avoid special characters. And appears on your Facebook feed like this:

Owning multiple accounts in WeeWar is a generally accepted practice as long as they aren't used for evil. Droning, or secretly controlling another player in a multiplayer game, is a good way to get blacklisted and shunned, the same goes for point harvesting.
There are many legitimate uses for multiple accounts including but not limited to:
2 Pro accounts for more games
More Map storage
Map testing
Playing multiple team members in a team game
Keeping yourself company on slow days in chat or the forums
Be sure ... Read More

Weewar is down again - looks a little different this time as the site now just resolves to an Apache folder listing and clicking thru give you the somewhat ironic message "It Works!".

PART TWO: GAME BASICS
2.1 Introduction
Never feel intimidated or stupid: Weewar is no more complex than chess to the nth degree with bases, different colors and some other stuff. It is well within the grasp of your average strategically-shaved simian - and you're better than that. It's important to remember: firstly it is far cooler than chess (and the sort of thing you can talk about at dinner parties) and secondly, as a bluffer, your primary goal is to give the appearance of ... Update: Alex posts to the blog
Weewar servers are down, comments from the recent blog post about the server change indicate that this is unexpected and the devs are looking into it.
Images and API connections are not resolving although test.weewar.com still seems to be available.
No word on when we'll be back up, will update if I hear anything. If you are having severe withdrawals maybe you should take ... Read More
